Back on Task

After a week of dicking around and not getting much of anything done thanks to that crappy burnout I've been feeling, I'm finally been back on track for the last couple days. I can finally share some progress with everyone! This is kind of a short update, because I'm now in the process of inking, which is basically refining the lines in my image to prep it for color. Here's where I was as of yesterday. (I've made more progress today, but don't have a WIP saved for web viewing at this time.)

The top one-third or so of the image is now done. I had to take some time out to delete all my damned paths, because apparently you can only have 999 paths in the Paths Pallet at any given time. ^^; So yeah, needless to say, this image also has over 1000 lines in it so far, not counting the small details I did free hand. -_-; And yes, they all have a freaky, blank-eyed thing going on, because I do all of the eye details (including eyelashes) when I paint rather than when I ink. XD
I'd also like to take a minute to side-track and promote a couple of awesome, totally worthwhile contests I discovered on deviantART yesterday.
The first is the 2010 CoolClimate Art Contest. A lot of great prizes and awesome judges are involved in this one, so even if you don't win, there are a lot of important people in art and climate change who will be looking at your art.
The second contest is the Oil Spill Awareness Contest - deviantART user Yuumei has put together this contest to keep attention on BP and the many, many abuses of people and the environment that have happened as a result of the Deep Horizons spill and are being swept out of peoples' attention through distraction and media blackout. The deadline was recently extended to August 15th for those like me who were linked to it late!
I will probably be entering both of these contests. Some of the work I am planning for my graduate show are related to the issues at hand, so they'll fit well with the contests. I'll just divert a bit of my current focus from the gender identity WIP to these for the time being. (And, of course, I'll share the progress and results all the same!)
